Fusion Velvet Plum mineral paint

Superior to both American and English chalk paints, ultra-adhesive FUSION mineral paint can be applied to any surface without the need for a primer or undercoat. It is ready to use and provides a matte finish, just as authentic as milk paint. Fusion paint does not require a topcoat, though you may apply one to create glossier or distressed effects, or to increase protection against water and wear. Fusion mineral paint is highly durable and easy to apply. It offers excellent coverage that, in almost every case, requires only one coat.

PREPARATION: THE SURFACE MUST BE CLEAN AND DRY. CLEAN WITH TSP PHOSPHATE-FREE ORGANIC DEGREASER. SURFACES OTHER THAN BARE WOOD SHOULD BE LIGHTLY SANDED. FOR GLASS, METAL, OR GLOSSY PLASTIC, WE RECOMMEND APPLYING A LAYER OF HOMESTEAD HOUSE BONDING AGENT FIRST.
APPLICATION: FUSION IS APPLIED USING A "BLUE JEANS" SYNTHETIC BRISTLE BRUSH, OR FOR A SMOOTHER FINISH, USE A VERY DENSE BRISTLE BRUSH SUCH AS THE STAALMEESTER OVAL BRUSH. IT ALSO APPLIES VERY WELL WITH A ROLLER. STIR THE PAINT WELL BEFORE APPLICATION. ALL COLORS CAN BE MIXED TOGETHER TO CREATE A MULTITUDE OF SHADES.
To create a distressed effect: use the wax stick to prevent the paint from adhering to the areas you wish to distress. WARNING: Varnish does not adhere to wax.
FINISH: THE PAINT IS DRY TO THE TOUCH AFTER TWO TO THREE HOURS.
To create an antique (distressed) effect, sand the surfaces with SIASPONGE flexible waterproof sanding sponges.
Although it is not mandatory, adding a topcoat will improve the sheen and durability, and will make the painted surface much easier to maintain.
Apply a wax after 4 hours. You can use Fusion wax, Homestead House waxes, or clear or colored Carbamex paste wax to create patinas.
Wait 24 hours after application before applying the Fusion protective sealer or a varnish such as Blanchon Initial for surfaces exposed to moisture and abrasion. For outdoor surfaces, use Blanchon Marine Varnish.
